May 05 2007 - We have rescheduled our April and May Shows while habitat's licensing gets straightened out. It looks like we are on track for June.

January 2007 - Higher Ground founder, Toddy Rockwell, has a new series of events starting this February. "The new deal is super uber cool cutting edge artists and musicians in a funky venue with soul." Were collaborating with Hip people like Blonde and Cream who will put on a fashion show from time to time as well as Chai Baba serving up fresh Martini's, or Mar-T-ni's as the tea house calls them.
Were also stoked to have Tobin back doing live graff work. You may remember his Bassnectar piece from the show...
The venue will be at the newly re-vibed Habitat on Leon Ave. They have all new Sound, unique visuals, full bar and expanded seating.
HG has had many
incarnations in it's 5 year history, and lately has been concentrating on large
scale productions and big name DJ's. But Toddy laments he misses the days of
small intimate venues showcasing up and coming talent that only those in the
know had heard about. " We've already done the biggest shows, now let's do the
coolest! We're going to cater to a 21+ crowd who like to dress up, dance to
underground dance music, and aren't afraid to drink a tea martini."
HiGHER GRoUND'S history
has been one of offering exposure for both the artist and the audience. It's
very name is synonymous with greater aspirations..and that's what we are
presenting with our new series of events...

August 23 - Things are shaping up nicely for HG's return to club events. We have a deal with a new venue in the works, a headliner booked for October opening and a super huge name booked for our 5 year anniversary in December!! More details as things are confirmed (contracts signed)

May 20 Well, our venue problems have worsened, and we will no longer be using Cheetah's. Higher Ground Club Nights are officially back on Hiatus until further notice. However...HG DJ's can be heard all summer long. Check schedule on main page...updated often.
May 10 New venue: Cheetahs worked out really well for the Revival show on a production level. However some scheduling conflicts have forced us to shuffle a few shows around. This Friday's Myagi show will proceed @Cheetah's as planned. The Mama Miche w/ fly DJ's show will happen at my digs ($10 includes beer/wine/hot tub-limited capacity). The Mat the Alien show has been cancelled, and the June 02 Hoola Hoop show will proceed at Cheetah's as planned.
After june 02, we have the option of using Cheetah's any weeknight, and will consider that option on a show by show basis.
March 07 We have just been included in the C1RCA presents program. It is the music side of C1RCA. They take the same attitude they brought to the skate community, and apply it directly to the type of music they enjoy the most. The result is a network of weekly parties second to none!
You can visit any city in North America and look up the C1RCA presents night, and go out knowing your in for a night of world class beats. Whether it's hip hop, drum N bass, house or breaks, the Dj's and performers of C1RCA presents nights are truly the best at what they do!
It is an honor for HiGHER GRoUND to be included on their roster, and is a testament to the 4 years of hard work, dedication and belief in our local scene!

Oldschool Stew.
Details:
Events will be held in the Oasis room @ Gotchas Nightclub. Events will be held
on Fridays. The hours will be 10pm - 2am. The wall between Gotchas and Oasis
will remain closed until the bar next door is at full capacity. Our Oasis door
will be open until 1am, after that you will have to wait in the Gotcha's line to
get back in. $10 at the door.

HiGHER GRoUND was just named best Night
Club in Kelowna for the second straight year. As well ToDDY RoCKWeLL was
named "Most eligible bachelor" by the readers of off-center.
Hmm, maybe I'll get a date for Saturday night after all... :-)
Jan 11 We have secured an interim venue for the Jan 13 Show. It is in the Oasis Room to the left of Gotcha's. It is a fully licensed venue with a kickin sound system.
Jan 07 We just received word that our venue is under new management, and closed for renovations for an undetermined amount of time. The Jan 07 show will be at the The Habitat. The Jan 13 show venue is still being confirmed. An update for that show will be made on or before Jan 10 at 6PM. We are hoping to be back open for the Jan 20 shows, if not, it will be postponed. More info as it becomes available.
Dec 09 HiGHER Ground is now every friday, and we are fully booked until March. As well we have some new sponsorships and a live web cast is in the works. Details soon.

As well there will be B-Boy demonstrations, Live Hip Hop acts, and a top DJ
spinning through out the night.
I will be posting an official announcement complete with FAQ and DJ Applications
within the next 2 weeks.
